Photographs of people, places, and things relevant to administrative statutes. Many of the photos also link to additional material.

Signing of the U.S. Constitution (as imagined in 1940 by Howard Chandler Christy).
Who's who in the Christy painting.

Harry Truman signs the APA, June 11, 1946. Behind him, from left to right, are: Congressman John Gwynne (R-Iowa); Counsel for the House Judiciary Committee, Charles E. Long, Jr.; Representative of the Attorney General, Ashley Sellers; Representative of the American Bar Association, Carl McFarland; Senator Pat McCarran (D-Nevada); Chairman of the House Judiciary Committee, Congressman Hatton W. Sumners (D-Texas); Congressman Francis E. Walter (D-Pennsylvania).
We have searched for a photo of President Johnson signing FOIA to no avail. He did so on July 4, 1966 while staying at the LBJ Ranch in Texas. Famously grumpy about the legislation (the link takes you to his signing statement), he forewent any public ceremony. This and the next photo show his schedule for the day. FOIA goes unmentioned.

Richard Nixon signs the Clean Air Act, December 31, 1970. Behind him are William Ruckelshaus (first EPA Administrator) and Russel Train (then the Chair of the Council on Environmental Quality and later the second EPA Administrator).
George W. Bush signs the E-Government Act, December 17, 2002. Behind him are Representatives Jim Turner (D-TX), left, and Tom Davis (R-VA).
